Periods of rain. Risk of a thunderstorm late this morning and this afternoon. Amount 10 to 15 mm. Wind becoming west 30 km/h gusting to 50 this afternoon. High 11.
A large thunderstorm passed through the Edmonton region in the evening on Monday causing power outages in north Edmonton and Millwoods, leaving thousands without power. It sounds like they have the lights back on now which is good because it’s pretty gloomy out there today.
We will experience periods of rain today amounting to 10mm to 15mm. There will be some wind gusts up to 50 km/h and a high of 11 degrees.
We are bracing for the overnight period where the rain has the potential to turn to wet snow. This could amount to 5cm to 10cm by Wednesday evening especially in northeastern Alberta.
Poor travel conditions are expected from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. As well as a risk of broken branches for accumulation of heavy wet snow.
Stay safe out there my weather-loving friends. If we get through this wintery blast it looks like the weather improves significantly for the weekend.
