City police are investigating a suspicious death that occurred in northwest Edmonton Saturday.

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) northwest division officers responded to a report of a dead female at a home near 129 Street and 128 Avenue around 10:50 a.m., a news release said Monday.

Police are calling the death suspicious and the homicide section has taken over the investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.

Police are not releasing any further information at this time.

This is the second suspicious death to be announced from this past weekend, as EPS earlier stated they are investigating a suspicious death that occurred early Sunday morning.

Police were called to a residence in the area of 142 Avenue and 80 Street for a weapons complaint around 2:30 a.m. Police said officers discovered the body of a man.

The deaths could be the city’s 11th and 12th homicides of the year pending autopsy results.
