Alberta reports 410 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday

Alberta reported 410 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, nearly doubling the number of new cases from the previous day.

Over the last 24 hours, 8,315 COVID-19 tests were completed, for a positivity rate of 4.9 per cent. On Tuesday, 209 new cases had been reported with a positivity rate of 5.1 per cent.

Currently, Alberta has 6,305 active cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 466 from Tuesday.

There are 435 people hospitalized with the virus, a decrease of three. Of those, 122 are in intensive care units, a decrease of five.

Four more deaths from COVID-19 have been reported, raising the provincial death toll to 2,231.

In the Edmonton Zone, which included the city of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities, there are 1,647 active cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 152 from Tuesday.

The city of Edmonton currently has 1,280 active cases, or 123.3 per 100,000 people.

As of end-of-day Tuesday, 2,841,779 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, or 63,565 doses per 100,000 people.

There are 406,712 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
