Search ongoing for man missing after dingy capsizes at Long Lake Provincial Park

Rescue crews are searching the waters of Long Lake for a 31-year-old man who is missing after his dingy capsized Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Boyle RCMP received a call for a possible drowning at the provincial park.

Witnesses reported a 31-year-old man had been on the water with a teen when their dingy capsized. While bystanders managed to pull the youth safely to the shore, the man disappeared under the water.

Boyle RCMP, Lac La Biche RCMP, Boyle Fire, Thorhild Fire, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, Alberta Parks and EMS responded and searched for the man until it became dark Saturday evening. The search recommenced Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

Police are asking anyone who is in the area to keep an eye out for the man while also allowing space for emergency crews to conduct their search.

Long Lake Provincial Park is about 140 kilometres north of Edmonton.
