Search called off for swimmer who went missing Friday night in the North Saskatchewan River

A swimmer is still missing after a late-night swim in the North Saskatchewan River Friday.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services spokesperson Matt Pretty said someone called 911 at 11:26 p.m. Friday, from near Dawson Park.

Pretty said a group of people went for a swim and one of them went missing.

Fire, search and rescue and a police helicopter searched the river to the Clover Bar Bridge but were not able to spot the missing person.

The search continued in the morning but was called off around 10 a.m. Saturday.

No details about the missing swimmer have been released.
