Edmonton city police have charged a 20-year-old man with manslaughter in connection to an aggravated assault that took place earlier in June.

Police were called to a disturbance at a home in the area of 69 Avenue and 173 Street around 4 a.m. on June 3 where officers discovered a 30-year-old man with serious injuries, police said in a Monday news release. Police identified the man as Roderick Chonkolay.

A man was arrested on scene and charged with aggravated assault.

Police say Chonkolay died from his injuries on June 6 and an autopsy was conducted on June 10 where it was determined the cause of death was from a stab wound.
