Edmonton weather: Kick the snow-dust up, with 8 C on the horizon

A look at today’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.

Saturday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station measured -8 C with winds 15 km/h out of the south. The wind chill, minus 14, still.

Today we receive one of those magical winter days where we can kick the snow-dust up. (If you have that song in your head now, congratulations!) February leaves us with a gentlest of snowfalls, maybe two centimetres. Child’s play.

The sun is not expected to break through our icing-sugar clouds, a pleasant high in the -4 C range expected. We can wear this grey day like a cozy wool sweater. Abide.

More goodness follows Monday as we squint in the sunshine, aiming for a golden high of 8 C. Temperatures in that range should continue through week’s end as we kick our heels up, marching toward spring.

Today’s forecast

Today: Periods of snow, around two centimetres, wind becoming southwest 20 km/h in the afternoon. High -4 C with a wind chill of minus 15 in the morning but dropping to minus 10 in the afternoon.
