Dozens of outdoor winter films are set to enjoy balmy weather this week

With a new location and strategic organizing, the International Festival of Winter Cinema is set to kick off March 9  as soon as the sun goes down.

Usually set up in Hawrelak Park, organizers having be working with ever-changing guidelines and restrictions and, this year, dozens of films celebrating winter all over the world will be shown outside the CO*LAB space Downtown, 9641 102A Ave.

Two screenings — at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. — will be happening every night until March 13 with multiple titles scheduled for each.

Tickets can be reserved on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a recommended donation for each screening. The capacity is 10 attendees for each time slot so register early. The festival has also organized a silent, online auction with support from local businesses like Sea Change Brewing Co. and Chianti Restaurant to help fund this effort.
