Premier Jason Kenney and officials are set to give a Thursday noon update on the rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations at Alberta pharmacies.

Kenney will be joined by Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro, Shoppers Drug Mart president Jeff Leger, and Alberta Pharmacists’ Association CEO Margaret Wing.

Booking vaccination appointments online through Alberta Health Services (AHS) and by calling Health Link 811 opened up Thursday to Albertans born in 1952, 1953 and 1954. First Nations, Métis and Inuit born in 1967, 1968 and 1969 will also now be able to book.

Pharmacies continue to book appointments for people born in 1956 or earlier.

On Wednesday, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw thanked Albertans for their patience with the province’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout as it deals with a fluctuating supply chain. She said recently a shipment of Moderna vaccine was grounded outside of the province due to mechanical issues, delaying shipments to 43 pharmacies.
