Health Minister Tyler Shandro will provide an update on Alberta’s vaccine rollout at 2:45 p.m.

Shandro will be joined by Margaret Wing, CEO of the Alberta Pharmacists’ Association.

Shandro’s update comes the day seniors aged 75 years and older became eligible to receive the vaccine. While bookings opened at 8 a.m. this morning, many Albertans have reported issues accessing the online portal as well as being kept on hold by 811.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) tweeted that thousands of other people had made appointments.

“As anticipated, we are experiencing very high volumes with the AHS COVID-19 immunization booking tool. The tool remains live. If you are having trouble accessing the site, please try again shortly. Thank you for your patience,” the tweet said.

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will not be making an appearance this afternoon. She tweeted earlier today that her next public update will be on March 1. Latest COVID-19 numbers from the province are still expected to be posted online.
